This Is More Than a Conference

It’s a call. A cry. A homecoming.

For generations, Africa has been torn apart—not just by colonial borders, but by invisible walls of trauma, silence, disconnection, and loss. We’ve watched our families fragment. We’ve seen sons become strangers, daughters bear burdens, and communities fall silent under the weight of wounds we were never allowed to speak of.

But now, we speak. Now, we heal. Now, we rebuild.

BRIDGES NOT BORDERS

In 1897, the British burned down the ancient city of Benin - a city of brilliance, art, structure, and soul. They looted bronzes, kidnapped culture, and left behind brokenness. But Benin did not die. Neither did we.

We are the children of Jaja of Opobo, who defied the empire. We are the seed of Queen Amina of Zaria, who led warriors with wisdom. We are descendants of families that thrived on honour, legacy, and community.

“Bridges Not Borders” is not just a theme; it is a return to ourselves.

- A return to conversations between generations
- A return to healing the wounds of colonisation, migration, and modern silence
- A return to building systems that restore dignity, unity, and peace

What You’ll Experience

  1. Deep-dive panels on family trauma and healing in post-colonial Africa

Across generations, African families have silently carried the weight of historical trauma - colonial violence, displacements, slavery, migration, and the loss of cultural anchors.

Our panel sessions will courageously explore these wounds and shine light on what healing can look like in practical, local, and systemic ways.

Expect to sit at the feet of therapists, elders, scholars, and survivors - all sharing tools, stories, and strategies to help families reclaim emotional and spiritual wholeness.

  2. Keynotes from African historians, therapists, and movement leaders

We'll bring together Africa’s finest minds - cultural historians, family therapists, and movement leaders, to deliver stirring keynotes that confront the challenges of today with the wisdom of our ancestors.

You’ll hear messages that won’t just inspire - they will equip, provoke thought, and call you into a deeper sense of mission for your family, your work, and this continent.

  3. Solution circles for intergenerational healing & diaspora reconnection

It’s one thing to talk about the problem. It’s another thing to sit in a room with others from across the continent and co-create real solutions.

Our Solution Circles are safe, strategic spaces where participants will engage in restorative dialogue, share cross-border experiences, and collaborate on models that help heal broken lines between grandparents, parents, and children and between continental Africans and our brothers and sisters in the diaspora.

  4. cultural experiences from across the continent

    Culture is therapy.

And this year, our gathering will pulse with the sounds, sights, and spirit of Africa - from storytelling circles to ancestral music and indigenous games.

These are not for performance - they’re for remembrance.

They remind us of who we are, what we carry, and what we must pass on.

  5. Connection with 1000+ family life professionals across the globe

    You are not alone.

You are part of a growing movement spanning nations, tribes, disciplines, and beliefs.

This is your chance to network, collaborate, and forge lasting partnerships with therapists, educators, coaches, policy advocates, faith leaders, and nonprofit trailblazers who share one goal - to rebuild the African family and heal the world.

"The wisdom shared by the speakers resonated deeply with my own experiences. It was like a lightbulb moment – so many things I'd observed in families I work with suddenly clicked into place. Honestly, I wish I heard about this conference earlier! I can't wait to implement these powerful strategies with my clients. This is exactly what I've been missing"
